Welcome to our therapy practice, where diversity, expertise, and compassion converge to offer you personalized support on your journey toward healing and growth.

At Foundations Therapy and Consulting, we are proud to bring together a team of three distinct founders, each with their own unique backgrounds, specialties, and certifications. Our collaborative approach ensures that you receive the highest level of care, tailored to your individual needs and preferences.

Meet our founders:

Joby Holcomb, LMHC, CADC: Joby Holcomb received his Master’s degree from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa.  Joby has worked with children, adolescents, adults, couples and families in a variety of settings.  Joby conducts trainings across the state for various organizations, schools and healthcare facilities. Joby’s specialty areas include treatment of addictions, LGBTQ+ mental health, psychological trauma, body image disorders and obsessive-compulsive disorders.  Joby has served on the board of directors for the Child Abuse Prevention Council, One Iowa, the LGBT Advisory Council for the Des Moines Civil and Human Rights Coalition and currently is on the advisory board for New Beginnings Counseling Service.

John Bisenius, LHMC: John earned his Master's degree from Drake University in 2014, and has been in practice since August of 2014. John works with men's mental health, some developmental populations, and is trained in EMDR, and has sought trainings in DBT, ACT, and IFS approaches to rewrite the patterns which impact everyday functioning.

Ashley Nupp, MA, LMHC: Ashley earned her Masters in Counseling at Drake University, and has received training and supervision in EMDR, EFT, and IFS/ego-state methods. She also incorporates mindfulness, CBT, and DBT approaches and has specialized training and experience in trauma, attachment issues, and couples therapy.  Other specialties include LGBTQ issues, and she has a passion for identifying and addressing the root causes of symptoms.

Together, we offer a wide range of therapeutic techniques and modalities, including but not limited to cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness-based interventions, solution-focused therapy, and narrative therapy. We believe in the importance of tailoring our approach to meet your unique needs, preferences, and goals.

Our team:

Becky Tayler, LMSW: After receiving both her bachelor’s and master’s degree in social work, she spent the early years of her career in the non-profit sector, serving LGBTQ youth across Iowa. Becky is committed to helping individuals navigate life’s challenges with understanding and support, and specializes in empowering clients to build resilience, manage stress, and foster personal growth. She provides a safe, non-judgmental space where clients can explore their feelings and develop coping strategies. Becky uses an integrative approach tailored to each client’s unique needs, drawing from evidence-based techniques like cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and mindfulness as well as Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT).

Derek Moulds, tLMHC: Derek earned his master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling from Adler University in Chicago, Illinois.  Derek is an Iowa native who moved back to Iowa after graduate school to focus on helping people in the community to achieve and maintain mental and emotional wellness.  He provides a safe, non-judgmental space for clients to explore and express their needs, desires, and personalities while collaborating with clients to set goals and strive for wellness.  Derek specially focuses on adolescent and adult clients with anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, men’s issues, as well as a special interest in helping those diagnosed as on the autism spectrum.  He does so using an approach most saliently integrating dialectical behavioral therapy, person-centered therapy, action and commitment therapy, and solution-focused therapy.
